"Mantlepiece"
A man is in a painting.
His eyes are swaths of black.
His face begins to crack.
A glass has been spilled.
The wine trickled down south.
Where the candlelight has filled.
Serving as a mantlepiece he has forever spilt his drink.

I like this as a verbal snapshot of an object. It's caught my interest. If you wanted to take it further, you could lead us somewhere emotionally. Give us a greater sense of what the importance of the man in the painting is. (And id there isn't one, you can make it up!)
